Erin O’Brien leaves the raw burlap/linen surface that she’s painting on exposed, which makes a great contrast with the very dense, eccentric shapes that she uses. The shapes seem to have an inner tension, creating a contest between all the different textures and colors. All these little details that you see when you get up close make her paintings so interesting.
