Through opposing forces—heat and coolness, saturation and neutral grays, gestural mark and meditative pause—I make paintings where change isn't a single event but an ongoing condition. Vivid passages of color move toward quieter intervals of gray. Movement is interrupted by moments of cancellation, and it is in that friction between temperature, density, and openness that tension emerges. Some paintings are built through layered, urgent mark-making, while others arrive at a hard-won stillness.

Together, they reflect a central concern in my work: that opposites don't cancel each other out. Difference can become a source of discovery, allowing for various emotional states to be expressed. The paintings suggest that coexistence itself can create new possibilities for seeing and understanding. Each work develops through a series of responses, with every decision shaped by what has already happened on the canvas. Rather than trying to resolve contrasts, I keep them in play.

That same dynamic extends across the show as a whole. Seen together, the six paintings resist uniformity. The more active works sharpen the quieter ones, while the quieter paintings give weight to the intensity of their counterparts, creating a rhythm of contrast through the exhibition.

The title of the exhibition speaks to a transitional state: a subtle vibration that exists not in the extremes themselves, but in their proximity. In each of these works— Crimson Currents, Yellow Pulse, Early Heat, December's Blue, Viridescent Bloom, and Grey Drift, a distinct emotional register is expressed via color, temperature, and light.  What emerges is not resolution, but vitality.
