Daniel Brice’s watercolors on paper are studies of the use of line and color to convey, through simple gestural movements, a complex world of ideas. For most of his career, he has chosen to use minimalist geometric abstraction as imagery. Daniel Brice delves into the physical, intellectual, and emotional impact of color. Drawing inspiration from the vibrant hues of Southern California, where he is based, Brice captures the deep blues of the Pacific Ocean and the vivid reds, yellows, oranges, and greens of the local flora. These colors are transformed into the richly colored lines and rectangles that define his compositions.
Brice has exhibited work throughout the U.S., most extensively in Southern California, and his work can be found in the collections of Ohio Wesleyan University Museum, OH; Allentown Art Museum, Allentown, PA; Smith College, Northampton, MA.
Daniel Brice lives and works in Los Angeles, CA He is represented by Kathryn Markel Fine Arts, with gallery locations in Chelsea, New York City - at 529 West 20th Street and 179 10th Avenue. His work is available for purchase through the gallery and on Artsy.
