I opened my art gallery, Kathryn Markel Fine Arts, in 1975. As a dealer, I have spent my career trying to make art accessible to the regular person, trying to sell art that is reasonably priced, and trying to present art as a joy rather than an obscure, intellectual language that speaks only to an elite.

Debra Marcoux has over 25 years of experience in contemporary art ranging in fields of sales, advising, education and non-profit. She has served alongside Kathryn Markel as Director since 2004. In her tenure with the gallery, she has work with more than 100 artists, curated over 125 exhibitions, worked with a clientele of 1000’s of collectors, consultants, and corporations, and written extensively about contemporary art. Debra holds a B.F.A. in studio art with a concentration in Installation Art, and a M.A. in Contemporary Art History from Sotheby’s Institute, London. She currently lives in New Jersey with her husband, Lulu (the gallery mascot) and two very active kids.

Jess moved to New York in 2014 after receiving her Bachelor of Fine Art from Monash University in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia. She has over 8 years of experience across the art industry with a strong passion for Contemporary Art. This extends to her personal projects where she is highly involved in the emerging art scene in New York and has curated several exhibitions for her artist collective that engaged the local community, featured on podcasts and acted as a mentor for the Artists in Fellowship program.
